Dear Friend of Scouting: Welcome to the web page of the Istrouma Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. Thank you for taking time to learn more about our programs and activities. Annually, we have the participation of more than 30,000 co-ed youth in over 500 programs. These programs help these youth develop skills in ethical decision making, goal setting, problem solving, team building, etc. It takes the commitment of over 5,000 adult volunteers to positively influence their lives. Our adult volunteers serve as leader, teacher, and mentor to these youth. This is vital to the future of our country because the youth of today will be our leaders of tomorrow. We are very proud of these accomplishments and the positive impact that we are having on our community. Also, through our programs of Operation First Class, we are helping to reduce juvenile crime, substance abuse, and the high school drop out rate in our community. The programs of Scouting are meeting today's needs of our youth.
