Your Gateway to Fun and Adventure Avondale Scout Reservation is located on LA Highway 10, three miles East of Clinton, Louisiana in beautiful East Feliciana Parish. The Reservation has over 1,665 acres of evergreen and hardwood forest, fields, lakes and abundant wildlife. It is a great place for our youth members to develop the qualities of good character, citizenship, and fitness under the influence of adults of good character. We want our youth to have a great and safe experience in the outdoors at Avondale. Camp Information Camp Rangers Eric J. Moore and Brad DeFranceschi live on camp and are provide the maintenance support for the Reservation and are available to assist all campers and visitors to the Avondale Scout Reservation. There are over 60 developed campsites throughout these four camping areas. Three large lakes (15+ acres each) offer the fisherman good fishing for bream, white perch, catfish and bass. There are over 5 miles of hiking trails winding throughout the Reservation. Perkins Lodge is a wonderful training facility for use by unit, district and council training teams. It has restrooms, kitchen and tables and seating for 60+ participants. Click on this Avondale Permit Packet link for detailed information about the camping areas and reservation forms. The Avondale Scout Reservation Rules and Regulation in this packet are critical to your safe use of the facilities and must be followed at all times. The Group Leader On-Site agrees to follow all the Rules and Policies of the Boy Scouts of America set forth in the 2003 Edition of the Guide to Safe Scouting and the Avondale Scout Reservation Rules and Regulations, 01-31-04. Activities Supported by the Reservation Aquatic Activities – Canoes are available for rent when the Group meets the requirements in the Guide to Safe Scouting. A separate "Aquatic Activity Permit Form" is also required for swimming and canoeing activities on the Reservation . Shooting Sports – Rifle and Shotguns are available for rent to units that meet the requirements in the Guide to Safe Scouting and have a National Rifle Association Certified Instructor to operate the range. A separate "Shooting Sports Permit Form" is also required for Rifle and shotgun activities on the Reservation . COPE and Climbing – The Reservation features an outstanding confidence course available to older Scouts and Venturing Crews. Handicapped Camping Facility - The Manship Campsite features a modern "barrier free" campsite for disabled adults and youth.
